Visiting Niamey - Niger

Niamey is the capital of Niger. The main only tourist site in town is the Musée National Boubou Hama. Other attractions include a pirogue boat ride on the Niger river and the wild giraffes in Kouré, about an hour's drive outside Niamey.

Musée National Boubou Hama - The uranium exhibit with some "grès très radioactif" (very radioactive sandstone) on the floor

The mighty Niger river - the previous town upstream is Gao, Mali.

Piles of rice sacks

Sunset from the terrace of Grand Hotel - a favorite gathering place among the local expats - while enjoying some brochettes

The battle of the mobile operators: French Orange versus Indian Airtel. Wondering what Foula is ? Hint: Niger has the highest birth rate in the world.
